It is this simple, direct, and sensuous approach to art that defines Don's work.

He works through photography to create images to touch the viewer's emotions through their experiences. Many images, like his Botanical Series, are purposely designed to bring a little extra color and brightness to a room, because it reminds people of how they feel on a warm spring day, and the joy of lying under a crimson fall tree as shafts of sunlight shoot through.

He strives to eliminate the unnecessary in his images.

"Very simple images do the best job of touching people." He "deconstructs" images to their base level to reduce the complexity of what the viewer is seeing and then layers color and texture back in to build the emotional content of the image.
