The Boca Grande lighthouse on Gasparilla Island was the original sentinel for mariners navigating Boca Grande Pass from the Gulf of Mexico to Charlotte Harbor on Florida’s west coast. Built in 1902, it was deactivated as a working lighthouse in mid-century and later restored as a museum. This photo, circa 1970, shows the original structure well before restoration.
